Sometimes, you may wish to boast to your friends about how you are to a particular game or you may wish to sum up your total gameplay time, you may ask yourself whether it is possible to check the PS4 hours you have used. What you must know is that this information is not available directly from your game console, but you can find it.
Regardless of the reasons, let’s check out the ways to find out the overall hours played on PS4.
Is It Possible to Check Time Spent on PS4?
As usual, Sony does not make things easy with time tracking. Frankly, there’s no means in the system to retrieve the report of hours played or the actual timestamps on the login.
Even though players can manage many aspects of their PlayStation profiles through the My PlayStation website, this utility only shows what trophies they have gotten how many friends they have, and the like.
Where to Find Hours Played on PlayStation 4
While you can not do it directly through the console, there is a way to figure out how much time you’ve spent playing your PS4 through a web browser. This can be done using the parental controls feature that is explained in the next section of this guide.
While this is extremely easy, you need to set up a PlayStation account (which you do not necessarily need a PlayStation console for) and then click Add Family Member to add a child account. The next step is to begin the linking of your accounts where you follow through with the setup.
For the life of me, I couldn’t find out how many hours this person or any person has played out of the total across all games; you have to go to the Family Management setting on Sony’s website to glean this information.
- Head to Sony’s website.
- Once there, click Family Management from the Side Menu.
- Then you can see the total amount of time played under the account name.
This will not reveal to you what the particular person was doing on their PlayStation and this will only show what they have done today but it will show the time played.
How to Manage Your Activity Feed
You can use the following procedures to control what is shared in your activity feed:
- Click the link “My Account” and enter your log-in data to sign in to your Sony Account.
- You get there by clicking on PSN Privacy Settings.
- Click on Gaming | Media.
- To modify your Privacy Settings so that determining who can see your activities, trophies, friends list, what other games you have and many others, simply click on the Edit button placed beside the one which you wish to alter.
If you have any activity you don’t want anyone to see, you can remove it by following these steps:
- Put your PS4 on and navigate to the Profile settings.
- Choose Change Privacy Settings.
- Select Gaming | Media.
- Then, select Activity.
- Choose the activity you wish to delete.
- Select Options.
- In Options, the activity can be deleted so it will be excluded from being posted in your friends’ news feeds.
Subscribe to the PSN Newsletter
Another way by which you can sometimes get a notice on the number of hours you have spent in all is to subscribe to the monthly PlayStation Network update newsletter that you are supposed to receive in your email in a month, containing other personalized data and promotional offers.
Sometimes but not always this information can be your gaming hours.
To sign up for the newsletter, you’ll need to do the following:
- Open a Sony account, and then, go to the login section.
- Next, there is the Notification Setting, tick the tick box and click on the Save option.

How Can I View Game History on PS4?
Here are some procedures for checking the game history on sale PlayStation 4: Often I may want to tally the total length of time that I have spent on the site playing my games, or I may want to know what games I have downloaded, or better still, I may want to download another game and I find it easier to locate the ‘Game History’.
You can achieve this either from the PlayStation console or from the PS App.
Library Tab
- To directly go to any game that you’ve played, click on the Library tab.
- Find the app to the right of your games, Netflix, and Playstation Store at the far end of the system.
- Once in the app, you can click the button Games or the button Purchased. You can anyway see when you purchased the game by just clicking on them.
You can add more apps to this tab at any time by simply selecting the PlayStation Store app and seeing other articles on the best PlayStation Apps.
Trophy List
The trophy list is on the top bar selected in the picture below. When clicked, additional details as pertain to the games played and the trophies in the production exist for awareness. If you click on the trophies, this brings up what time you acquired the trophies.
Game Files
- If you want to view saved data in your PS4, navigate to Settings > Application Saved Data Management > Saved Data in System Storage > Upload to Online Storage.
- From here, choose a game and hit the Options button on the appropriate game, then go to information. This will show you the time played and your game history.
When it comes to saved data for all games, you will never get the chance to see all data at once with this update, but at least you will know when exactly you downloaded the game in your system. You can also see the time when the last try was made with Save or Auto-save tools.
Time Played on PS5
Since the latest console is now officially launched, we would be remiss if we did not note that the PS5 makes it significantly easier to view the played hours.
If you want to boast with how many hours you have invested into your new console.
- First, you go to the menu bar at the top of the page and find the Profile tab, then click on Games.
- Below the name of each game, it will be possible to see the total time spent on the particular game!
Quite possibly the final straw that has been eagerly anticipated by all of us needing another reason to replace our consoles.
